Hi it's TINA and TIM again and this is the follow-up question regarding educational neglect TIM tell us what kinds of things are considered educational neglect so nine out of ten cases come from the school district they'll be the ones who call in an educational neglect most of the time sometimes it's a nosy neighbor who sees that little Johnny's not been in school what they're looking for is the attendance rate the school has a threshold that's required by the state that they track uh so many days unexcused absences is considered chronic absenteeism and they are required not only to report that to the state uh you know to child protective services so we're looking at attendance rates we're looking at why isn't your child in school we're looking at grades we're looking at conduct and behavior in the school those types of things are what we're going to investigate under an educational neglect piece and so it's pretty straightforward we get the records we look at them we ask the parent why aren't they going to school one thing to note here is a lot of times an educational neglect will be a bigger case because you'll find that Johnny's not school because maybe he's being abused at home and the parents don't want to send him because then the parents are going to you know the teachers are going to know what's going on or maybe there's lack of transportation at home there's maybe some issues there that then cps can step in with other services and help that family great thanks TIM again remember tune in next time and like our page and don't forget to subscribe
