Finrir - Odin's Sacrifice

They made themselves a city called Asgard
And there dwelt the gods and their kindred
Many stories of it have told
Both on earth and on high

There is one high place called Hlidskjalf
The high throne where allfather look, over the whole world
He saw the deeds of every man
And knew all that he saw

He hangs on a tree swaying in the wind
For nine whole nights hanged and wounded by a spear
He sacrificed himself to that tree
From which no one knows whence it springs

No one gave him bread or horns to drink
For nine whole nights he hung wounded by a spear
The sacrifice was Odin himself
Finaly the runes he adapted and then fell out of there

Odin sacrificed one of his eyes to the well in exchange for a drink
He paid for his superior wisdom with one eye at the Mimisbrunnr
