30A Prime Interview with Destin History and Fishing Museum

Описание к видео 30A Prime Interview with Destin History and Fishing Museum

The "Destin History & Fishing Museum" is the perfect place to visit on a rainy day or if you've had too much sun. It tells the entire story of Destin, Florida and how it became the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village".

Our tour guide for this 30A Prime interview was Destin History & Fishing Museum Executive Director, Kathy Marler Blue. She's a Destin, FL native and is from one of the original founding families. Kathy graciously told us many amazing stories about the early days of Destin, Florida and how it became a world fishing power.

One of the big reasons fishing is so good out of Destin, Florida is because it has easy access to deep water. Kathy goes into great detail explaining how open water is measured in fathoms rather than feet. One fathom is equal to six feet. Right out of the Destin pass the Gulf of Mexico drops to more than 300 feet which is really impressive.

Kathy also showed us around the Rodeo Gallery. The gallery highlights all things related to the history of the famous Destin Fishing Rodeo. The Destin Fishing Rodeo is one of the oldest and largest annual fishing tournaments in the World.

So for those looking for something fun to do in Destin, make sure to stop by the "Destin History and Fishing Museum". I promise you'll be glad you did.
