Trans Mourning: The Power of Collective Care | Trans Day of Remembrance 2023

Описание к видео Trans Mourning: The Power of Collective Care | Trans Day of Remembrance 2023

Since 1999, trans people have gathered to remember all of the trans and gender diverse people murdered throughout the year. This takes place every 20 November on Trans Day of Remembrance. We come together to support each other in our grief, and demand a better, safer world, where trans people are respected, valued, and protected.

This year, 321 trans and gender diverse people were reported murdered. 94% were trans women or femmes. 80% Black, brown, or racialised, where race data was available. And, 48% were sx workers, where occupational data was available. This data shows us that our fight for trans rights is very much needed. But, this fight needs to include and centre our trans siblings who also sit at the intersection of other oppressed identities.

Today, we remember every trans life lost globally, those reported, and those unreported. We come together in our diversity to build communities and societies where our grief can be transformed into trans joy through collective care.
