(8 Mar 2014) Thousands of women gathered on Saturday in the Philippine capital, Manila, and stood in a giant human formation of the female symbol, to mark International Women's day.
The event which was held at the Quirino grandstand, was organised by the Philippine Commission on Women in partnership with a private business entities.
The human formation of the cross-like scientific symbol was expected to make it into the Guinness World Records book.
Event organiser Gilda Patricia Maquilan said the aim of the human formation was to empower women.
"We want to reaffirm our commitment to create an enabling environment for women to become better in what they do. In that way, they can help in uplifting the lives of their family and their communities," Maquilan said.
An estimated crowd of 10-thousand, coming from government offices, state universities and colleges, civil society groups and the private sector, joined the formation on Saturday.
