Church organ repairman Sylvain Brisson is the only one of his kind in all of eastern Ontario, servicing and tuning organs at well over a hundred churches in the region — some dating back to the 1800s.
On this day, at Carleton Dominion Chalmers Centre in downtown Ottawa, he’s repairing some of the 5,179 pipes on the 60-year-old organ, climbing through the guts of the organ that is four storeys tall on narrow catwalks behind the screen at the front of the church.
