Those interpersonal, social competencies within #emotionalintelligence, are the skills that soften the situation. Diffuse emotions.

With them, innovation, creativity, problem solving, collaboration - these are all accessible to us.
Without them, outbursts, toxic behaviours, interruptions, withholding, sabotage - these become our culture.

With them, empathy and assertiveness are influential for behaviour change.
Which means understanding how behaviours are driven by emotions, and that means understanding how individuals create their emotions.

Emotional outbursts are most commonly triggered when something that is going on touches on a core value and core belief/world view, of the individual. The result is standing grounded in their core value/belief/world view and defending it. Sometimes vehemently - and hence the toxic behaviours.

Inner engineering and self awareness skills form the foundation for ensuring our own emotional intelligence skills prevent us from being the cause of the disruption and instead, enable us to self-master.
Social skills enhance our ability to be the person in the room that is capable of diffusing big emotions and bringing the room together for team work, collaboration, dialogue, resolution. Success.
