Proper sample preparation of many materials may require careful and thorough particle size reduction for accurate and reliable test results, and Gilson has everything you need for your crushing, grinding, pulverizing and milling needs.

Crushing is often the initial step in particle size reduction of materials such as mineral ores or aggregates using varying combinations of force, impact and compression to initiate fracturing in the materials.

Gilson crushers include jaw crushers, hammermills, cone crushers and roll crusher options, each with multiple models, and designed for performance on harder materials.

Like the Gilson LC-33 BICO Standard Chipmunk Jaw Crusher with its exceptional crushing capacity, with its resultant user- adjusted jaw action, causing forward and downward motion, crushing the sample and forcing its discharge for controlled particle sizing.
(Utilizing its 2hp motor, the maximum feed size is 2.25x3in (56x76mm), crushing material to (Discharge) 1/16 to 3/8in (1.6—9.5mm), with a 400lb (182kg) capacity per hour.)

Or like the Gilson LC-44E 10 inch Jaw Crusher designed to take large harden rock and crush them down to 1" (25mm) or smaller. This rugged machine’s jaw plates facing material are harden abrasion-resistant 450 Brinnel Hardness (BHN 450) rated steel that can reduce large rock sizes in minutes. (Cast Manganese/Chrome Steel Jaw Plates upgrade available). (Maximum feed size of the 10in Jaw Crusher is 8in (203mm), Discharge final output size down to ¼in, throughput of approximately 1 to 2 tons (900 to 1,800kg) per hour.)

Gilson’s selection of Pulverizing machines can further reduce particles through friction and abrasion by utilizing grinding plates, hammermills, or centrifugal impact, that yields materials in a granular or powder form.

Like the Gilson LC-53 Bico Pulverizer which features a time-proven grinding design for fast and efficient processing of material, including hard rock and ores, all within a single pass (Depending on material type).

(2-horse-power motor rotates the shaft at 900-1000rpm, 1/4in (6.4mm) feed material, discharge approximately 75µm size (No.200 sieve size), throughput is about 60lb (27kg) per hour depending on material type.)

Gilson’s Milling and Grinding machines produce finer, more homogenous test specimens from impact, pressure, and abrasion, or through cutting actions on softer materials such as plastics or plant fibers.

Like the Gilson LC-82F Motorized Disk Mill which provides effective performance in limited dry or wet grinding samples for test preparation. (meets ASTM C409 requirements for preparation of specimens). This rugged mill’s 4in grinding plates are made of a hard iron alloy designed for clog resistance and a long service life (Acicular Iron Grinding Plate available as an up-charge).

(Utilizing its 1/3hp gear motor, the revolutions per minute tops out at 89RPMs, Feed hopper has a full 50in³ (0.8L) volume capacity, Discharge ground material to 80 to 100 particle size (180—150μm) (Depending on material type).
