(26 Nov 2020) Lachin corridor, a narrow strip which connects Armenia with the breakaway territory of Nagorno- Karabakh, has become the sole option for drivers travelling from the Armenian city of Goris to the region's capital Stepanakert.
After Kalbajar district was ceded by Armenian forces, ethnic Armenians were cut from the road that connects the Armenian city of Vardenis with Stepanakert.
Lachin district, that lies in the middle of thr corridor, will be the last territory turned over to Azerbaijan by December 1.
Armenia has already handed over control of two other territories it holds outside Nagorno-Karabakh's borders, including Aghdam and Kalbajar districts.
The truce last week halted the violence after several failed attempts to establish a lasting cease-fire.
It was celebrated as a victory in Azerbaijan, but sparked mass protests in Armenia, with thousands regularly taking to the streets to demand the ouster of the country's prime minister.
