Explore the Pitti Palace & Boboli Gardens.

Whether you're an art lover or seeking serene beauty, I encourage you to explore and discover the grandeur of Florence by visiting the magnificent Pitti Palace and its breathtaking Boboli Gardens.

Once home to the powerful Medici family, the palace is a treasure trove of Renaissance art, lavish rooms, and rich history. Wander through the opulent galleries filled with masterpieces and then step outside to the expansive Boboli Gardens - a lush, green oasis adorned with statues, fountains, and perfectly manicured landscapes. From its elegant terraces, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Florence, blending nature with art in one unforgettable experience.

In the late 18th century, the Palace was used as a power base by Napoleon and later served, for a brief period as the principal Royal Palace of the newly United Italy. The Palace was passed, in 1860 to the Crown of Italy and was inhabited (when Florence was the capital of Italy -1865-1871) by Victor Emmanuel II. The Pitti Palace was donated in 1919 by Victor Emmanuel III to the Italian State, together with the square and the Boboli Gardens.

Just behind the Pitti Palace you will find the Boboli Gardens, a vast open-air museum filled with stunning sculptures, fountains, and manicured pathways. This peaceful retreat from the city’s bustle, the gardens provide panoramic views of Florence’s skyline and invite visitors to wander through classical landscapes that blend art with nature. Originally designed for the Medici, The Boboli Gardens represent one of the first and most important examples of the Italian garden, which later served as inspiration for many European courts. Statues of various styles and periods, ancient and Renaissance, dot the garden.

When we talk about Palazzo Pitti, the first thing that comes to mind is the Medici family, one of the most important families in Florence.

There are many good reasons to visit Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens. Leaving the historic center of Florence, you simply cross the Ponte Vecchio and walk a few meters down Via de’ Guicciardini until you come face to face with a large square, Piazza Pitti, and an enormous palace, Palazzo Pitti.
The Pitti Palace houses the Treasury of the Grand Dukes, the Palatine Gallery, the Royal and Imperial Apartments, the Gallery of Modern Art and the Museum of Costume and Fashion. This new arrangement of the Museum offers the visitor a selection of rare and precious dresses accompanied by accessories, shoes, hats, fans, parasols, bags, which exemplify the evolution of fashion and taste seen in their historical development, from the 18th century to the present day.
