I show you how to prevent 4WD winch power cable fires with these Tips!
Unprotected winch power cables can rub through and potentially start a fire under the bonnet of your 4WD, and that's the last thing you want.
I have taken my unprotected winch power cables out of the engine bay in my 4WD and applied a protective flexible conduit. This will protect the cables and prevent the winch power cables rubbing on sharp objects inside the engine bay, and shorting out that could potentially start an electrical fire.
A winch on the front of a 4WD requires a great deal of power from the battery for them to work.
Seeing this first hand what happened to the winch power cable on my mates 4WD.
I thought i would get mine out and cover the cables so this couldn't happen to me.
If you have a winch on the front of your 4WD, i highly recommend that you get onto this straight away, and inspect the power cables on your winch for any damage.
Cover the power cables with the same flexible conduit that i have used, and you will take away the risk of a potential electrical fire while you're out in the bush.
