Kashmir : Tosa Maidan | The King of Meadows | Ep 04

Tosa Maidan, literaly meaning the King of Meadows, is a 65–100 square kilometer pasture and historical site in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, India, located in the Himalayan range, at an altitude of 10,395 ft in the middle of the Pir Panjal Mountain range. The pasture is 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, and is surrounded by dense forests.
Till a few years back, this heavenly place has been kept out of visitors' limit due to army presence but has finally been opened to tourist. Though Doodhpathri and Yousmarg, the other 2 meadows of Budgam has gained popularity recently in terms of tourism, but Tosa Maidan is still out of bound and quite unknown to commercial tourism, due to lack of a proper connectivity. The road to Tosa Maidan is still not finished but once completed, no doubt its going to attract the attention it rightly deserves.
Its a 60 km drive from Srinagar and one may easily take a day trip to Tosa Maidan and come back to Srinagar.
