In the first wave in the UK, over one in ten people in hospital with COVID-19 acquired their infection in hospital. The ISARIC Clinical Characterisation Protocol UK (CCP-UK) study identified this problem in March 2020, and has been working since to find hospitals demonstrating best practice and those needing improvement.

In this episode, we welcome one of the leading researchers from this study Professor Calum Semple, Professor of Child Health and Outbreak Medicine at the University of Liverpool, to speak about hospital-acquired infections and how to identify and administer effective infection control for diseases like COVID-19.
