Into the Danger Zone we go! This is Airfight on the PLATO system. Developed by Brand Fortner and Kevin Gorey. This 1970's "lesson" was a first attempt at a realistic flight simulator and air combat simulator. This would end up being the inspiration for the first true flight simulator. This game I am sure is a lot of fun if you can master the controls, which I could not, and others are online to play as well, which there are not. Another quirk of this game is that updates to the graphical display only really happen when you press enter. I am not sure if this was an intended feature of the game or if this is a quirk of PLATO, or even possibly due to pilot error (probably). Either way this is a huge leap forward in game development and flight simulation and you should try it for yourself! If you want to give it a try, boot up your PLATO terminal and the game name is 0airfight.
