Locomotive Air Compressor Died! We Gonna Change It Out Today

Описание к видео Locomotive Air Compressor Died! We Gonna Change It Out Today

Bad Air Compressor on our #22 locomotive and we
gonna change it out in this video. Locomotive is an EMD SD 38-2.

I will show you the tool they use to turn the engine crankshaft
over with and explain how it works. And you'll see a start up of
the loco along with a decent amount of this sweet sounding engine
at idle.

This is a 2 stage air compressor with 3 cylinders. It is water cooled. The
oil capacity is 10.5 gallons. It puts out 254 cubic feet per minute of
compressed air. Main air reservoir cut out is at 140 pounds of air pressure.
Prime mover is an EMD 16-645E 16 cylinder. #22 locomotive was built
12/1978 for Yankeetown Dock. It came to us in 1997.

Yankeetown Dock was built in 1954 to connect Lynnville Minnesota to
Yankeetown Indiana having 266 miles of track. In 2003, Norfolk Southern
acquired all track and spurs. In 2007, Squaw Creek Southern RR
acquired trackage rights. All #22 has done all it's life is haul coal.
