The new BL1 Bakerloop route has now started! The BL1 runs between Waterloo Station and Lewisham. The route only serves around 8 stops, more on this later.

The BL1 will follow the route of the planned Bakerloo line extension. The route is intended as a long-term temporary route. It will be withdrawn when (or if) the Bakerloo line gets extended.

The BL1 will be operated by Go-Ahead London from Waterloo (RA) garage. The route will use ten double-deck buses. These buses (AD BYD Enviro400 City EVs) feature a white and brown livery.

Bakerloo line seat moquettes have also been fitted to buses. And LED displays have replaced the paper style blinds. Buses used on the BL1 feature USB charging.

The Enviro400 City EVs were previously used on the 230. They were replaced by Wright StreetDeck Electroliner EVs. And have transferred from Northumberland Park to Waterloo garage.

The BL1 will be a high frequency service. Buses will run every 12 - 15 minutes.

Towards Lewisham, the BL1 will stop at Waterloo Station (Waterloo Road), Elephant & Castle (London Road), Elephant & Castle (New Kent Road), Burgess Park (Dunton Road), Old Kent Road (Ilderton Road), New Cross Gate Station, Lewisham Station (Loampit Vale) and Molesworth Street. Towards Waterloo, the BL1 will serve Lewisham Centre and Lewisham Clock Tower. It will then stop at the same stops towards Lewisham.

The Bakerloop would only connect to one other Superloop route. This would be the SL6, which runs from Russell Square to West Croydon at peak times.
