ADDITIONAL NOTE:
The bidirectional movement of sucrose in the phloem occurs because most times the leaves are the source (after photosynthesis)directing sucrose downwards to roots, while other times, the food storage organs and roots can be the source, directing sucrose upwards to growing buds of the plant. So the direction of the sucrose depends on the source and the sink, and can vary depending on the season.

Also remember that sucrose is the transport sugar in plants because it is less reactive than glucose, meaning it does not readily take part in chemical reactions.
