STEM education consultant, Dr. Diana Wehrell-Grabowski provides snippets of children and teachers using three screen free coding devices that introduce children to the basics of coding. Growing data suggest that exposing young children to too much screen time can have negative effects on their development, including issues with memory, attention, language skills, and social interaction. When introducing young children to coding consider using screen free devices initially such as the Code and Go Mouse and Botley the Coding Robot both from Learning Resources, as well as Fisher-Price Code-A-Pillar, there are other screen free coding devices out there to incorporate too. All of these devices were designed for young children through elementary age.
