We all know that the United States has increased tariffs on Indian exports.
Before it was a 25% tariff and it changed to 50%.
This new rule will start from August 27, 2025.
Trump says India continues to buy cheap oil from Russia.
As punishment, America has raised tariffs.
What will be the impact for India ? Let me explain.
Yesterday the Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra explained this in Mumbai.
He said business like gems and jewellery, textiles, garments, and seafood exports may be hit badly.
But the government is taking steps to reduce the impact and help business people.
RBI is trying to discuss and reduce the interest rate for business.
India’s foreign exchange reserve is 695 billion dollars, enough for 11 months of imports.
Our economy is strong and has a solid foundation.
Prime Minister Modi also said India will protect the interests of farmers and fishermen, even during this trade pressure.
So there will be no impact on the business.
India’s exports to the US are about 80 billion dollars every year.
So, higher tariffs may increase the price of Indian products in the US market.
American buyers may look to cheaper options from Vietnam, Bangladesh, or Mexico.
But India is also expanding trade with the Middle East, Africa, and Europe to balance this.
Experts say the service sector like IT and digital trade is not affected.
That is a strong area for India.
So even if goods exports face challenges, India’s digital economy will continue to grow.
