UnMetal (PC) Retrospective | A Charming Metal Gear Parody

Описание к видео UnMetal (PC) Retrospective | A Charming Metal Gear Parody

For all its popularity, in the public consciousness, Metal Gear’s legacy starts with Solid, at least in America, where the original MSX games never released, sans a janky NES port of the first. While Metal Gear Solid is still awaiting a true successor, Metal Gear itself only gets an occasional attempt at it, which is a shame, because 2D stealth has a lot of interesting elements. UnMetal might not exactly be a true successor to the original Metal Gear, in part because it’s elaborate and insane storytelling is a parody of the series, and because it’s in general a comedy game, but it does draw a pretty obvious line to it, and offers a lot of new twists on the original game. UnMetal was developed by UnEpic Fran and his group Unepic Games, an indie developer from Spain who got initial traction with his Dungeons and Dragons parody game, Unepic, and actually began life as an MSX game like Metal Gear, known as Prisoner of War, which was sold on authentic cartridges, which is kinda incredible given it was created in 2018. UnMetal serves to remake Prisoner of War, in a more modern style, and debuted on the Playstation Vita… in 2021, yes, really, my man loves his dated hardware, via Eastasiasoft, a distributor that works with small batches of weird products, but would see a slightly uh, less odd release on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC a few months later.
