Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route during spring season is known for world-famous “Yuki-no-Otani” From Tateyama Station, the Tateyama Cable Car will take you up to Bijodaira at an elevation of 1000 meters.
From Bijodaira, the bus will take you up to Midagahara at an elevation of 2300 meters. You can enjoy the magnificent scenery from the car window. The snow walls get higher as the altitude rises. At a height of 2450 meters, Murodo Station stands at Japan’s highest elevation. The snow walls made by removing snow from the road around the Murodo Station is called “Yuki-no-Otani”. Visitors can walk on one side of the road which is openedfor pedestrians at the Yuki no Otani Snow Wall Walk. At “Yuki no Otani” snow piles up from the drifted snow.
Sometimes the accumulation of snow wall can reach a height of up to 20 meters.“Yuki-no-Otani” is a popular sightseeing spot where many tourists visit every year. Please allow yourself to feel how wonderful the magnificence of the mother nature is.
