Mavic Cosmic Pro carbon wheels review

Описание к видео Mavic Cosmic Pro carbon wheels review

In this video, I will review the Mavic Cosmic Pro carbon disc wheels. They're mid-depth wheels with a rim of 50mm (officially rated as 45mm, I think, if you know why, drop a comment below) so somewhere between all-around wheels and aero wheels.

They look cool. The rims are deep enough to be visible and the Mavic stripe is a nice touch. They're also pretty light: 1.7kg for the pair which is fairly standard for rims of this depth.

As an added bonus, the free hub on the rear wheel makes a lovely clicking sound.

Are they faster than shallow rims? The science says yes. Personally, I can't tell the difference so I'll trust the wind tunnel testing. That said, I can definitely tell the difference in a crosswind and deeper rims pick up the wind more than shallower ones.

They are fully tubeless so you don't need any rim tape; you just put a tubeless tyre on them and they are good to go. I paired these with the Mavic Yksion Pro UST II which they claim go on and off the rim really easily. They do not. I snapped a tyre lever the first time I tried. I've had one puncture the sealant couldn't deal with so next time I think I will get a different brand tyre.

So, if you're looking for the perfect pair of tubeless wheels and tyres, this combination isn't it. But all tubeless setups are really hard to get on and off the rims.

I'm using a 28mm tyre which makes for a comfortable ride.
