Teesta, though a common river between India and Bangladesh, is a blessing for West Bengal in India, but a constant source of sorrow for the people of northern Bangladesh. During the monsoon season, heavy rainfall and the release of water from India’s dams cause sudden floods, while in the dry season, water scarcity leads to a nearly 9% reduction in rice production in Bangladesh. This situation, however, could be changed through the Teesta Mega Project.
