Creating a Student Persona for IBDP Music

This video, in conjunction with Microsoft Excel, is designed to assist educators in creating a MUSICAL PERSONA to assess the degrees of familiarity students have with various music genres. Additionally, it facilitates the establishment of a proportional relationship among the broader Areas of Inquiry (AOIs), providing essential insights into student profiles and enhancing curriculum planning.

In the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), music is categorized into one of four AOIs. This activity not only aids students in understanding these categories more effectively but also equips educators with critical information to uncover the musical identities of their students.

This video is part of a comprehensive series of lessons available on InThinking, which explores more than just the musical identities of students. It aims to enhance their existing familiarity with specific music types while simultaneously challenging them to develop skills related to unfamiliar works.
