Interview with Greg Winter

In this interview for the LMB’s 60th birthday celebrations, Greg looks back on his time as a PhD student, postdoc and then Group Leader in the LMB’s Division of Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry (PNAC). Throughout his career, Greg's main focus was on the practical applications of genetic and protein engineering, and following his development of humanised mouse antibodies, he pioneered the use of phage display libraries to make entirely human therapeutic antibodies. For this achievement, Greg was awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.

This interview is part of the LMB Through the Years project celebrating the LMB's 60th anniversary. A selection of twelve staff and alumni, from across the decades, were interviewed by science writer Kathy Weston about their time at the LMB and what it has meant to them. Each interviewee has also chosen an object to represent their time at the LMB, giving an unusual insight into the many facets of life at the LMB.
