Steps:
Set the Multimeter to the Capacitance Measurement Mode:

Turn on the multimeter.
Select the capacitance (farads) measurement mode. This is usually denoted by the symbol "F" on the multimeter dial.
Discharge the Capacitor:

Short-circuit the capacitor terminals using a resistor or the metal part of the multimeter leads to discharge any stored charge.
Connect the Capacitor to the Multimeter:

Connect the positive (red) lead of the multimeter to the positive terminal of the capacitor and the negative (black) lead to the negative terminal.
Read the Capacitance:

The multimeter should display the capacitance value. Compare this value with the rated capacitance of the capacitor. It's normal for the measured value to be slightly lower than the labeled value due to tolerance.
Additional Checks (Optional):
Check Voltage:

Set the multimeter to the voltage measurement mode.
Connect the multimeter leads to the capacitor terminals.
Ensure that the voltage across the capacitor is within its rated voltage. Exceeding the rated voltage can damage the capacitor.
Check Resistance (for polarized capacitors):

Set the multimeter to the resistance mode.
Connect the multimeter leads to the capacitor terminals.
For polarized capacitors (e.g., electrolytic), observe if the resistance starts high and then decreases. A steadily decreasing resistance indicates a healthy capacitor.
