Daniel Potter, MD, FACOG. HRC Fertility: So, for patients that are coming from outside the United States, we will contact them initially either via telephone consultation or a Skype consultation. We will then monitor; we’ll arrange for them to have local monitoring, typically in the country of origin, and then they will have to come to the United States, usually for about 12 days.

When they arrive, the day after their arrival they’ll have an ultrasound and then we will take the eggs out, usually two days after that initial ultrasound. And from the time we take the eggs out until we’re transferring them, it will be six days later. So, they have some time to hang around and a lot of them will take that opportunity to travel.

Patients from overseas are able to return to their home country two to three days after the embryo transfer and then have pregnancy tests, any follow-up pregnancy care done in their home country and we will monitor that remotely; their doctor here in the United States will and make any changes or decisions that are necessary.

What we do, is we help people have healthy babies, you know, to, you know, happy intact families that want to expand and that’s what our main purpose is for gender selection.
