The gradient,divergence and curl are the well known differential operations of vector calculus. These operations find vivid applications in different branches of physics and mathematics. A most important second order differential operator is the Laplacian operator which is also of immense significance in physical theories. In dealing with the problem of general relativity we need tensor form of these operations and the operator. You will find here the concept of gradient of a scalar or invariant,divergence of a contravariant vector and covariant vector and curl of a covariant vector. It has been explained that the divergence of a contravariant vector and a covariant vector are equal.
