Join the crew of Lachlan Valley Railway locomotive 5917 as they run around and turn the locomotive on the Cootamundra West Triangle, during the 11th of October Junee Shuttle trips from Cootamundra to Junee & return.

At Junee 5917 would be turned on the Junee turntable to haul the train locomotive first back to Cootamundra. At Cootamundra however, there is no turntable. In order for 5917 to be turned, the crew would run it through the triangle at Cootamundra West.

5917 is owned by the 5917 Syndicate, operated and maintained by the Lachlan Valley Railway.

5917 & the Baldwin D59 2-8-2s -
The D59 class was a class of 20, 2-8-2 Mikados built by the Baldwin-Lima Hamilton works in Philadelphia in the United States for the NSW Railways between 1952 & 1953 as oil burners, converted to coal burning locomotives, due to the lack of oil burner facilities in NSW. One distinctive feature of the 59s was their unusually short tenders. These delayed the delivery of locomotives as the tenders had to be shortened to fit on the current 60 foot turntables on the NSW railways, it was later discovered that the 59s could not be turned on most 60ft turntables due to balancing issues.
