This hapa haole song (Hawaiian style music with English words) was composed by Henry Kailimai in 1915 and first performed at the Pan-Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco in 1915 and became the best seller of all Hawaiian songs. It made Waikiki famous and ushered in Hawaii’s early tourism industry as people wanted to be where the song was all about.
