Appalachian Trail 2024 attempted thru hike and a windstorm suddenly burst upon us sending deadfall trees downward. Was tornado style winds My friend PapaSmurf had to leave his tent behind as a tree branch crashed through it.

Fortunately we were camped near a roadway in Bland Virginia, when a passerby gave us a ride to a local mom and pop owned motel called “The Big Walker Motel”. There is no power currently at the motel due to the storm.
