My opinion, Pink Diamond was another victim from the diamond authority. I pity her actions and character. Her decision to create Steven, for me, was a doubled edge sword: Creating new life while also giving up on hers. She knew what was going to happen, and in a way, wanted to escape her past and regrets permanently. She didn't purposely cause the war, she didn't expect the whole diamond authority to fight back. She didn't expect her friends or comrades to turn corrupted. I really do feel sorry for her character.
