What is Heat Sink?

The Heat Sink is the device which transfers the heat from the electronic device to the surrounding, and in this way, it helps in maintaining the temperature of the device in the allowable range.

Why Heat Sink is used in Electronics?

Every electronic device/components get heated during the operation. If the temperature of the device is not maintained within the allowable range, then it can reduce the lifetime of the device and it can even damage the device/component.
So, to maintain the device temperature in the allowable range, the heat sinks are used.
