India during the Mughal period fine workmanship on stone and marble extremely beautiful gardens and the use of water to enhance their beauty Our destination today is also one such place A garden built during the Mughal period in the Shivalik Hills Yadavindra Garden, but we and many others like us know it by the name of Pinjore Garden so come with us to Yadavindra Garden or Pinjore Garden This place is merely 22 kms away from Chandigarh After passing through the city of roundabouts and wide roads with rows of trees on the sides we have reached the Shimla Highway There is a toll plaza on the Chandigarh Shimla Highway from where, at a distance of about 7-8 kms the road turns left from the highway for Pinjore By now the faint lines on the horizon have started appearing in the form of hills From here the road is going straight to Solan and Shimla and on the left is Pinjore and at the start is this garden This is the entry to Pinjore garden area and there is a lot more parking space here as compared to the tourist places The entrance of the garden is visible in front and this entrance seems to be giving an indication of the grandeur inside the garden A few words about the garden are on the red stone A fountain has been installed right in front of the entry The ticket counter here has become modern but the view inside the garden takes us back to ancient history Mixed expressions of happiness and surprise can be seen on the face of tourists entering through this grand gate Tourists want to enjoy their each and every moment Everyone wants to capture these moments as memories in their cameras After the Mughals left, the Maharaja of Patiala got this garden renovated. Due to this, this garden came to be known as Yadavindra Garden This garden was built in the 17th century by Nawab Fidai Khan the foster brother of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb Fidai Khan was Aurangzeb's trusted commander He was not only a brave warrior but also a good architect He was appointed as the governor of Punjab and when he came to this place, he was fascinated by the natural beauty of this place and he built this beautiful garden here Fidai Khan also built the famous Badshahi Mosque of Lahore This garden has been built in seven floors as is the specialty of Mughal gardens The main gate opens on the highest roof As the main gate through which we have entered this garden is on its topmost floor Such constructions present a very beautiful and breathtaking view The natural slope has been cleverly used to facilitate the flow of water The use of various structures and water flows and fountains on each terrace enhances the architectural splendor of the place The large and beautiful trees on both sides of all the floors add to the beauty of this garden and add to its royal charm Children are enjoying themselves The use of such stones on the floor takes us back to the olden days There is a food court on the left side and on the right side is the captivating Jal Mahal it has not been filled with water due to repairs etc But still it is not difficult to imagine its magnificent appearance when it would have been filled with water The beauty of the designs and arches built inside the structure of Jalmahal is indescribable Standing inside it, we can see the beautiful view on both sides Seeing the reflection of the garden in the water around the Jalmahal is an unforgettable experience There is a majestic Sheeshmahal on the highest roof On the lowest floor, there is an open air theatre only there is lack of lights, sound action and the thunder of applause of the audience A fort-like wall has been built around the garden From a convenient place, a beautiful view of the entire length of the garden can be seen and each of the roofs going downwards seems to tell a new story of beauty The gurgling water on every floor, fountains placed and the trees around are creating very beautiful scenes There is a Hawa Mahal here which is built to enjoy the air and provides a cool relief during the summer months On one floor is the Rang Mahal which has an arched door and remains of some paintings which is a mirror of our past full of art and culture Colourful lights have been installed for night time This adds to the beauty of this garden in the evening Such lights have been installed under water as well and for this, electric wires have been laid in the water Although all such lights and wiring are waterproof still there is a possibility of electric current leaking in water from anywhere.
