And here we are again… The Jacob Javits Center in New York City lights up every February to celebrate play, and this year’s New York Toy Fair 2026 did not disappoint. Every toy company comes here for one reason — to show retailers what’s coming next. And I come here every year to show YOU what’s coming next in the world of action figures.

This year? Things got interesting.

Right before the show, huge news broke — the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles master license is moving to Mattel. That means Playmates Toys will no longer be producing TMNT action figures after this year. That’s massive. Playmates has been synonymous with Ninja Turtles for decades, so seeing their booth and knowing this is the final wave of product from them felt surreal.

At the Playmates booth, we saw the remainder of their upcoming releases including TMNT x Godzilla, crossover figures like Ninja Turtles x G.I. Joe, the final retro-style releases, and Mutant Mayhem figures. But the big question remains: What happens next?

We still don’t know what this means for companies like Super7, NECA, Mondo, McFarlane, or anyone else currently producing TMNT collectibles. Is Mattel going to become the sole TMNT toy producer in 2027? Toy Fair didn’t give us those answers — at least not yet.

But that wasn’t the only buzz at the show.

The undeniable talk of Toy Fair 2026 was Masters of the Universe. With the new MOTU movie hitting in June, the Mattel showroom was absolutely packed every time I walked through. New Masters of the Universe movie toys were on display, and the excitement around He-Man was real. Whether it was industry insiders, retailers, or other members of the press — everybody was talking about it.

For me? It felt like a He-Man Toy Fair.

We also saw confirmation of Masters of the Universe movie costumes from Rubie’s, which shows just how big this movie push is going to be. Licensing seems to be ramping up across the board.

Over at NECA, we got some fun surprises including Disney Afternoon DuckTales figures that look like they’ll fit perfectly alongside their Cartoon TMNT line. The Muppets were revealed — a natural follow-up after Sesame Street. And then… maybe the wildest reveal of the show…

McDonaldland characters from NECA were absolutely not on my bingo card for Toy Fair 2026, but here we are — and I love it. I hope we see more characters from that line.

One thing I always remind people — Toy Fair is a trade show. Some booths are closed off. Some don’t allow cameras (looking at you, LEGO). This show is about selling to retailers first. But even with early reveals happening online before the show starts, there’s nothing like seeing the toys in person — getting better angles, asking questions, and really experiencing the booth displays themselves.

This year, I made sure to capture more of the actual booth setups so you can see what it feels like to walk the show floor at New York Toy Fair.
