Both have a scooped frequency range similar to Rosewood Guitars.
Both have great sustain but Cort Gold D8 is more resonant and loud. This might be due to a very thin UV cured glossy finish. The Epi seems to be heavier and with a thick laquer on it.
Cort Gold D8 has a Torrified Top that makes it sound more vintage out of the box.
