In this amazing walk in the Summer Garden, you'll spectate one of the most significant landmarks of St. Petersburg. Nature puts on one of its most artistic displays as temperatures drop during the fall. Trees make their seasonal transition from subtle shades of green to vivid hues of yellow, orange, red, and gold. Therefore, the Garden is especially lovely in the fall.

It was personally designed by Tsar Peter the Great in 1704. He chose a superb location for his Summer Palace and Garden. He was impressed by the amazing view of the water which opened up from the cape between the Neva and the Fontanka rivers. Ivan Matveevich Ugriumov was the architect in charge of the construction of the palace. Peter's dream was for it to be adorned with beautiful fountains and the architect fulfilled his dream. He built a damn on the Fontanka river and directed the water to the amazing fountains you can see in the Garden today. Starting from 1712, the planting of the Summer Garden was further elaborated by the Dutch gardener Jan Roosen, who was the chief gardener of the park till 1726.
