What happens when you take a former chiptune musician, fresh off of writing his most synthy and guitar shredding soundtracks (Shakedown Hawaii and Slayin 2 respectively), and ask him to write some tempered orchestral tracks that are not necessarily supposed to sound like Japanese RPG music?

Well, it sounds something like this, I suppose. Sorry for the long delay releasing these works in any format. Getting Shakedown and Slayin 2 our took an enormous amount of time, and this soundtrack unfortunately fell through the crack, until now! At one time I was actually working on 5 soundtracks at the same time (2 big, 3 small), which almost makes this soundtrack feel like a dream. I blacked out and this soundtrack blinked in to existence. What a time...

Tags: Orchestral and symphonic are not the genres you usually expect when you think of Norrin_Radd and Matt Creamer. Mobile games don't usually requite a bombastic soundtrack either, which also happens to be Matt's forte. What we have here is a musician who relies on hitting many notes as a signature technique being forced to dramatically slow down the song writing process to fit the less in your face mobile game space. Tracks don't need to have epic crescendos or progressive passages. They more or less have to underline the type of gameplay for a mobile experience. This ends up being dramatically different than a console of PC game experience, and thus the pace is a unique challenge in it's own right, especially for a musician with a catalog like Matt's. Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Vandal Hearts, Xeno Gears? These are all games that the developer was not interested in sounding like. Swashbuckling and pirate themes ended up being more the flavour of the day based on early prototypes.
