Go Fishing Peru

All I can say is wow! Fernando is such an amazing guide and all around great person. We were supposed to go on the Thursday but due to flooding the road to the fishing village was wiped out. Fernando kept us in the loop and once safe, we were able to go the following day. He picked us up very early at our hotel. His truck is very nice, spacious and has A/C which was hard to find for us in Peru or at least a driver who wanted to use it. We drove about an hour to a local fishing village. That in itself is something to see. All of the commercial fishermen are there selling their fish to market. It's very chaotic but fun to watch. We boarded a traditional Peruvian wooden boat. We didnt't even make it 5 minutes before we were surrounded with views of marine life including a gigantic male sea lion. The driver gets you very, very close to wild life. We chose a package to fish along the coast for smaller species. Throughout the trip we were up close to sea lions, penguins, jelly fish and a million birds. From the time Fernando picks you up, he begins teaching you the ways and culture of Peru. He speaks almost perfect English and we could literally ask him anything. He packed a cooler full of snacks, drinks, beers, homemade sandwiches and more. The boat was comfortable, shaded from the hot sun and had tons of room for us. Fernando never stops. He outfits each person with a quality Shimano rod and does all the bait for you. We caught a haul of different species. Lots of laughs and never bored. He moves around to try different species and the backgrounds are breath taking. Near the end of the trip, Fernando prepared Ceviche right in the boat. His recipe was to die for...even if you don't think you like fish, you must try it. Basically, Fernando caters to all of your needs. Want to try another spot? No problem. Wanna see more wildlife? No problem. Do not hesitate to contact Fernando. We were 9 days in Peru and this was a major highlight.
