Davidoff Churchill Series The Traveller Limited Edition 2019 Cigar Review

The Traveller is the third in the Churchill Series after the original Winston Churchill and The Late Hour. Only 8000 boxes are available.

While the Original took all facets of Winston Churchill's character, the Late Hour examined him in moments of deep thought. For The Traveller, then, Churchill's nature as a wayfarer and explorer inspired Davidoff.

Each box, which resembles a leather travelling case, holds ten cigars. The box depicts travel stamps from different locations Churchill travelled to, such as London, Washington, and Marrakesh.

Also on the box are the silhouette of the Union Jack and an embossed profile of Churchill himself.

In terms of blend, Davidoff used this limited edition to play around a little more with the flavour profile.

Also, this cigar is a Robusto, rather than the larger sizes that are currently the trend for limited editions. This cigar is for those moments while travelling where you can sneak in a cigar.

As you bring the case with you, it will be humidified and ready to smoke. The case itself is a functional humidor stocked with a Boveda pack.

There is also a smaller Corona size in a five-pack format, only available in duty-free sections at airports.

The Traveller features seven types of tobacco from three countries. This includes Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Mexican leaves.

The Original & Late Hour used Ecuadorian Habano wrappers, but this cigar's wrapper is from Yamasá, Dominican Republic. This lends a lovely spice and sweetness to the flavour.

In terms of flavour profile, the beginning of The Traveller has more intense flavour than the previous two. This gives you caramel and spice, with earthy & oaky notes. After this, it gradually mellows out, yielding more of its flavours.

The accordion-style construction leads to an incredibly even burn, and as it progresses, you'll find nutty notes and coffee. It moves from the back of your palate towards the front, with rounder, smoother notes.

Finally, the caramel & wood hinted at in the beginning come out in full at the end.

Primarily an afternoon smoke, if you enjoy this intense cigar in the morning, pair it with something strong like coffee.

Davidoff is the only company that can make cigars for the Churchill family, collaborating since 2008 with Churchill's grandson. Also named Winston Churchill, we met this very quintessentially British gentleman at an event in New York.

As far as future limited editions, another will be coming out soon, though Klaas couldn't tell us much more!
