Описание к видео On-point: Why Kishida is visiting South Korea one last time

윤 대통령, 기시다 총리와 '고별 정상회담' 합의안 도출 주목

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida's visit to South Korea this time will be his last as the Japanese leader.
Let's discuss more with Professor Lee Hee-eun.

Thanks for joining us.

1. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's visit to South Korea this time will be his very last one as the Japanese leader.
Why is he coming now?

2. The leaders of South Korea and Japan are expected to sign an agreement that will help their people evacuate in case of a conflict in a third country.
Isn't this the first time Japan is trying to ink something like this? Why with South Korea?

3. South Korea and Japan relations have come a long way with a dramatic shift in improving their icy ties under the Yoon administration.
Do you think this momentum will remain regardless of leadership change in Japan?

4. Does that mean trilateral cooperation between Seoul, Washington, and Tokyo will remain solid as well? Even with the new leadership in the U.S.?

5. Critics say that Japan hasn't shown enough effort or made appropriate gestures when handling historical issues that South Korea has been more actively approaching Japan about, namely the forced labor issue.
Is this something that we'll continue to see with future Japanese leadership? Or not?

Thank you so much for joining us this morning.
We appreciate it.
