കോഴിക്കോട്: ഓടിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ട്രെയിനിൽ യാത്രക്കാരെ പെട്രോൾ ഒഴിച്ച് തീ കൊളുത്തി കൊല്ലാനുള്ള ശ്രമത്തിനിടെ പുറത്തേക്ക് ചാടിയതെന്ന് കരുതുന്ന സ്ത്രീയും കുഞ്ഞും ഉൾപ്പെടെ മൂന്നു പേർ മരിച്ചു. കോഴിക്കോട് ചാലിയം സ്വദേശികളായ ഷുഹൈബ്- ജസീല ദമ്പതികളുടെ മകൾ സഹ്ല (രണ്ട് വയസ്), ജസീലയുടെ സഹോദരി കണ്ണൂർ മട്ടന്നൂർ പാലോട്ടുപള്ളി ബദ് രിയ മൻസിലിൽ റഹ്മത്ത് (45), മട്ടന്നൂർ സ്വദേശി നൗഫിക് എന്നിവരാണ് മരിച്ചത്. എലത്തൂർ കോരപ്പുഴ പാലത്തിന് സമീപം റെയിൽവേ പാളത്തിലാണ് മൂന്നു പേരുടെ മൃതദേഹങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്.

ട്രെയിനിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന എട്ടുപേർക്ക് പൊള്ളലേറ്റു. പരിക്കേറ്റവരിൽ രണ്ടുപേരുടെ നില ഗുരുതരമാണ്. പൊള്ളലേറ്റ അഞ്ചുപേരെ മെഡിക്കൽ കോളജ് ആശുപത്രിയിലും രണ്ടുപേരെ ബേബി മെമ്മോറിയൽ ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിലും ഒരാളെ കൊയിലാണ്ടി ആശുപത്രിയിലും പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു.

The incident occurred inside the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express when the train was about to cross the Korapuzha bridge between Kozhikode and Kannur stretch.
An unidentified man entered a Kannur-bound train, sprayed an inflammable liquid on passengers and set them on fire, leaving three dead and eight with burn injuries. Police said that prima facie, it appears the deceased – Rahmath M (42), her two-year-old niece Zahra, and K P Noufiq (39) – jumped off the train to save their lives.

The incident took place at 9.45 pm on the Alappuzha-Kannur executive express, which was about to cross the Korapuzha bridge between Kozhikode and Kannur.
