UPSC CSE Current Affairs NEWS in 60 Seconds!
The 22nd Law Commission of India sought suggestions from various stakeholders on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Uniform Civil Code (UCC) means having same set of secular civil laws to govern all people instead of being governed by their own personal laws based on their religion or caste or tribe. It will cover personal matters like marriage, divorce, maintenance, adoption and inheritance. Under Article 44 of the Part IV of Constitution of India, the state “shall endeavour to secure for the citizens a uniform civil code throughout the territory of India”.
