On August 3rd 2022, Earl Freudenberg spoke to the Ooltewah Collegedale Kiwanis Club.
Earl is a legendary radio personality and is a native of Chattanooga and attended Hamilton County Schools and the University of Chattanooga. He served three years in the US Army, almost two years of which were at the American Forces Network in Frankfurt, West Germany.
He worked for four radio stations in the local market, starting in 1962 until he retired 54 years later in 2016. Most of his career was spent with WDOD radio, hosting the "Hey Earl Show" and Sunday morning Sound Off. He was ahead of the curve in his career -He was hosting talk radio shows before talk radio became such a popular and significant programming option. He was named the Tennessee Associated Press Broadcaster of the Year in 1981 by the state's broadcasters.
He was inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame, the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame and the Tri-State Gospel Association Hall of Fame.
