Meriväljan has a Radio tower array so was strategic in the defence of the Soviet Union of the 80s and it also supplied fuel to navy submarines submerged nearby offshore, stored in former uranium Mines used to make Russias first nuclear bombs, but now filled with diesel in storage tanks brought in by Railroad these tanks would send fuel 3km down pipelines into the sea all covertly refuelling the Baltic Fleet

In the summer of 1984 Igor Volke then a young firefighter was called to look at a water well being dug that had come into contact with a hard surface and that had blunted the drill bits it soon turned out that the hard surface was, in fact, some exotic metal alloy properties samples were sent off for analysis study and came back as not of this world
