Video transcript:

[Meacham] The traveling exhibition program is a way to connect the deep history and resources and collections of the National Library of Medicine back out into the communities for which that information was first collected and gathered.

[Mills] We tell stories that are rooted in the social history of biomedicine. The traveling exhibitions are displayed at medical libraries, public libraries, cultural institutions, universities and those host venues often develop public programs to accompany the traveling exhibitions.

[Hurst] We're really excited to have the This Lead is Killing Us exhibit, currently on display at our library. This exhibit takes us through the history of lead based use in the United States, as well as how that has contributed to health factors and health disparities. By bringing it here to the campus where allowing people to see artifacts and many cases to actually see historical documents or even to look
at the books and resources that we have available in our library related to that topic, that our community centric.

[Waugh] We've gotten great feedback so far, and it's really fun to watch people stop by and take a look at the exhibit. I work downstairs at the information Services desk. It's just fun to see them take time out of their day to explore the exhibit.

[Mills] It's part of our goal to give people a deeper and maybe different perspective on health and medicine, but one that will help people understand why things are the way they are now and make more informed choices.

[Meacham] There's something much more personal, there's something much more engaging, when you can actually go to a place, you can see the information, you can take the time. You want to really look at it, study it. The National Library of Medicine is a trusted resource, and providing these traveling exhibitions allows hosts institutions to really take advantage of that and really serve as their own trusted institutions within their communities.
