The Stuart Tiara! Queen Maxima Stuns in Holland's Grandest Tiara w/40 Carat Blue Diamond from 1690

Queen Maxima stunned and excited the royal world when she debuted the Stuart Tiara and Diamond while visiting the United Kingdom in 2018. This particular tiara features a one-of-a-kind 40 carat light blue/green diamond at the top, a rare gem that first came onto the scene in 1690.

Purchased by King William of Orange and Queen Mary, who ruled over England at the time. It was suggested that the diamond be split in two, but Mary wanted it to remain intact.

Since the 1700s, the diamond has been the subject of lawsuits and traveled from the U.K. to the Netherlands, where it has remained. It took many forms over the centuries, including being in a brooch and necklace.

But it was in the late 1800s, it was fashioned into the focal point of a tiara. Worn by most Dutch Queen's, it is the grandest of all of the impressive royal collection and made its debut for the first time in decades in 2018 with Queen Maxima.

When asked whether the impressive and likely heavy piece hurt, she responded with a cheeky, "No."
