A number of VLIR-UOS projects were invited to showcase their research during the recent State Visit to the Republic of South Africa of Their Majesties the King and the Queen of the Belgians.

In this video, professor Bert Willems (PXL University college Hasselt and Hasselt University) will present a project that aims to promote talented South African artists from deprived communities in the Stellenbosch region by developing a methodology for cultural empowerment through academic strengthening. This project also aims to contribute to the broader mission of decolonizing and southernizing knowledge in South Africa.
