My country, exhausted by war, sanctions, and the pandemic (over two years)
Economic sanctions, greed of merchants
And bad management
And what can I say
That's why we got to this point
First of all, have mercy on the innocent martyrs who passed away, may their souls rest in peace
Yes, they are martyrs, not victims, with all their sects
The martyrs who passed away because of the earthquake, because of the war, because of hunger, because of poverty.....etc
Deceased, but alive
People died due to hunger, poverty, lack of electricity, lack of fuel for heating, transportation...etc
Finally, the earthquake killed more than 2,500 people in Syria alone and more than 5,800 people in both countries
Except for the missed and injured
What does injured mean? The meaning is that they have become disabled, possible without hands and without legs
You will tell me that I am an expat and I don't care about my country
You are wrong, I do, yes I do, and there are a lot of Syrians like me
But because of sanctions, no one can help financially, I'm 100% sure there are a lot like me, we want to help but unfortunately, we can't
But we keep trying, and we'll do it again and again
Unfortunately, the US and the EU closed all the ways to not let us help our country
They imposed economic sanctions on us, to kill us because of hunger and poverty
I am speaking from a humanitarian standpoint, not a political one
Today, rescue teams are digging with their own hands and primitive equipment
Because of the lack of the required mechanisms to dig and extract the victims from under the rubble
Because of the lack of fuel or electricity to operate these mechanisms, if any
Rescue teams are using their hands to dig, to reach the victims, and they can't reach
I want to thank all the countries that broke the blockade, even if it was temporarily, and sent aid to Syria
I won't list them all, lest they blame me if I forget one
But I remember some of them, UAE, Lebanon, Algeria, Iraq, and Jordan
Please forgive me if I forgot anyone
Because my mind stopped thinking these three days
And I say shame on the rest of the countries
This is a humanitarian crisis, not a political one
You are taking revenge on a people weary of war for 12 years
92% of the Syrian people are below the poverty line
Shame on you, lift the sanctions on Syria, Syria does not deserve what you are doing to it
And you Syrians, love each other
There is no opposition and loyalty during humanitarian crises
This is 100% unacceptable
There is a small example
The Ottomans killed the Armenians at the end of the 19th century during the genocide
The year 1915 was the peak of this genocide
More than a million and a half Armenian martyrs
Also Greeks and others
Today, Greece sent aid to Turkey, not to Syria
However, Armenia, the country in which I live and have the citizenship of it, has sent aid to both countries because it is a humanitarian crisis, not a political one.
Not a political struggle
Shame on you, "first world" countries and "human rights" sponsors, whether you are the US or the EU
My people died of hunger, my people died under the rubble, and we can't send aid to them
The ambulances stopped working due to the lack of fuel, Shame on you
Lift the sanctions on this oppressed and poor people
The Syrian people - the poor before the rich - provided assistance to the victims
But all this help is not enough
It acts as a pain reliever, working for a temporary period
Syria did not possess resources, because they closed everything in front of it
If the economic sanctions on Syria are not lifted, Syria will die
I repeat and repeat that 92% of the Syrian people are below the poverty line
People are starving
People cannot pay for food and medicine
If a person gets sick, he does not go to the doctor because he cannot pay the medical review or buy the necessary medicines
I hope the decision-makers will listen to my cry and the cry of people like me from this wounded country
