☞ Buckley Backstory:

Theodore Buckley was a successful Entrepreneur, but lacked one thing; a son to carry on his family business. He was an old-fashioned man and believed a woman's rightful place was at home looking after the children, so when he met Cordelia, she fit right in. She wanted security and stability and knew that Theodore could provide her with a comfortable life so they married and she soon fell pregnant. Their marriage was a difficult one and Cordelia often felt lonely with the lack of affection from her husband. When she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, she was overjoyed but saw the look of disdain on Theodore's face. She knew he wanted a son and felt fear for the first time, that he would leave her if she did not provide a boy for him. Cordelia was left very much alone to handle the stresses of a newborn and felt the pressure mounting day by day within her marriage. She became pregnant shortly after Orphelia turned one and felt a weight lifted off her shoulders when she gave birth to a baby boy, who was named Hugo. Theodore automatically took a shining to Hugo and became very involved in his upbringing, leaving Orphelia in the background. Cordelia felt a deep love for both her children, but couldn't help but hold a soft spot for Orphelia as she grew into such an independent and quirky character. Orphelia watched her father dote entirely on her brother and got used to being considered second best. As she gracefully turned 18, Orphelia became everything Cordelia had wished she could be, whilst Hugo followed in his father's footsteps and joined the family business, much to Theodore's joy. He taught him everything he knew and couldn't be happier that Hugo was very obedient. Theodore grew a subtle hatred for his daughter's free spirit and lack of desire to join in their society and he despised how Cordelia fed into her 'wild ways'. Orphelia finally had enough of not being noticed and made the decision that she could no longer live under her father's rules. She felt she had been suppressed for her whole life and needed to discover who she really was and leaving home was the only way to do that. She wished she could take her mother with her, but knew this was a journey she needed to complete alone.
